Offsite CCTV Monitoring

Your cameras. A coordinated monitoring workflow.

Remote CCTV monitoring connects relevant camera events to a control room, video verification and agreed escalation procedures. Build a service around the risks, hours and responsibilities of your operation.

01 / SOLUTION DESIGN

Define what is monitored

Identify priority zones, operating hours and events that require attention. Event-based monitoring, scheduled virtual patrols and continuous coverage are different service requirements. The proposal should specify which applies to each view and period.

02 / SOLUTION DESIGN

Use AI to surface relevant events

Suitable analytics can identify activity such as a person entering a configured area. Rule selection, camera position and site conditions influence performance. Test day and night behaviour, and refine the configuration to reduce avoidable review workload.

03 / SOLUTION DESIGN

Verify with available video

An operator reviews the available footage and event context before following the agreed procedure. Set clear expectations for what can be verified when views are obstructed, connectivity drops or an incident moves outside camera coverage.

04 / SOLUTION DESIGN

Agree response integration

Maintain an authorised contact list and escalation sequence. Describe when on-site staff, security management or a response provider should be contacted. Response arrangements and service levels must be contracted; detection alone does not guarantee intervention.

05 / SOLUTION DESIGN

Make camera health visible

Discuss how loss of video, recording faults or connectivity exceptions will be identified and reported. Monitoring effectiveness depends on cameras, power and communications, so technical exceptions need an owner and a follow-up process.

06 / SOLUTION DESIGN

Keep an incident record

Useful records connect the event time, location reference, available evidence and action taken. Management can then follow up unresolved incidents and review recurring patterns without searching through unrelated footage.

ILLUSTRATIVE REVIEW WORKFLOW

Keep the evidence connected to the decision.

Define the event, the available evidence and the person responsible for follow-up. A useful system makes the next step clear without overstating what a camera can establish.

Demonstration only. No client activity, performance figures or live connection is shown.

IMPLEMENTATION

A practical path from assessment to use.

  1. 01

    Assess

Review priority camera views and current recording equipment.

  2. 02

    Configure

Confirm secure remote access, bandwidth and backup power requirements.

  3. 03

    Validate

Agree monitoring schedules, event rules and operating procedures.

  4. 04

    Review

Test alerts, verification, escalation and reporting before handover.

Questions to ask before you start.

Can existing CCTV be used?

Often, subject to compatibility, image quality, network access and the event requirements. A technical assessment confirms what can be reused and where an upgrade is necessary.

Is offsite monitoring the same as recording?

No. Recording stores footage. Monitoring adds an agreed process for identifying, reviewing and escalating relevant events. Storage and retention remain separate design decisions.

What happens during load shedding?

Cameras, recording equipment and connectivity need appropriate backup arrangements. The assessment should identify dependencies and expected backup duration; no system can monitor an unavailable video stream.
